Hybrid office and flexibility at work

I am writing this post from my home office. I am sitting comfortably at my corner desk, in front of the large monitor, with a view across the city from the ninth floor. The flexibility that the 2020 pandemic brought to where we work has fundamentally changed what we consider a good workplace.
Quality of life for the people who work here
Quality of life is the point now. We work to live, not the other way round. That does not mean we do not love what we do. Quite the opposite.
At soulTec we live that flexibility every day. I can organise my working day myself, and I like taking my breaks from the screen at the CrossFit gym near where I live. There I can push my body for 60 minutes and come back refreshed and ready for my work at soulTec. Sometimes that means a two-hour break in the middle of the day. Does it mean I work less? No. I value the freedom and the responsibility that comes with it.
“A happy employee is a good employee” fits soulTec exactly. We give people everything they need to feel comfortable, including a sensible work-life balance. Job satisfaction goes up, and that has a positive effect on every part of the company.
Because people organise their own working days, everyone can work during their personal productive hours. For some that is early in the morning, for others not until midday. We are by no means a home-office-only company. People work where they want to. Some of the team, for example, very much like being in our office at Ueberlandstrasse 1 in Dübendorf and are mostly there. And we all enjoy seeing each other, so there are regular days when a large part of the team is in the office.
